POLLUTION IN ROMANIA
Romania, like many other countries, faces various types of pollution. Common types include air pollution from industrial sources and transportation, water pollution from industrial discharges and agricultural runoff, and soil pollution due to improper waste disposal. Additionally, noise pollution and light pollution are concerns in urban areas. Efforts are being made to address these issues through regulations and environmental initiatives.
Our town, Satu Mare faces several sources of air pollution
- • traffic emissions
- • industrial activities
- • burning of solid fuels for heating and cooking
Unfortunately, there is a very high traffic emmision as well, due to different factors such as:
- People use almost exclusively their personal cars
- There are families with a higher number of cars than familiy members
- Students who are 18 come to school by car
- There are not enough parking lots and people park on green belt as well.
- This can lead to congested roads and increased emissions from cars, motorcycle, etc.
For reducing air pollution, our town encourages a healthy lifestyle:
- Promoting sustainable options of transportation
- Promoting Walking
- Promoting Cycling
- Using buses instead of cars - public transportation
- Introducing dedicated routes of buses that facilitates traffic in rush hours for students or workers
- Offering more bike parkings at school
- Making students conscious of benefits nature offers
