The 3rd LTTA in Romania – Satu Mare, October 2024

On 20 October 2024, an exciting chapter of the Erasmus+ project “Young Europeans: The CREW – Creative and Responsible Environment Warriors” took place in Satu Mare, Romania. Bringing together young people and teachers from several European countries, the third LTTA (Learning, Teaching and Training Activity) was hosted by Liceul cu program Sportiv Satu Mare.

The activity brought together partner schools and participants from Romania, Portugal, Italy, Poland, Czechia and Türkiye, creating a truly international atmosphere where different cultures, ideas and experiences came together around a common goal: building a more environmentally responsible Europe.

Learning Beyond the Classroom

The LTTA was an opportunity for students to learn not only from teachers and educational activities, but also from one another. Working alongside young people from different countries encouraged participants to communicate, cooperate and discover new perspectives on environmental challenges.

The central idea of The CREW – Creative and Responsible Environment Warriors is to encourage young Europeans to become active and responsible members of their communities. Environmental protection is not only about knowing the problems our planet faces; it is also about understanding what individuals and communities can do to create positive change.

Through the activities in Satu Mare, participants were encouraged to think creatively about environmental issues and to consider how small actions can contribute to a healthier and more sustainable future.

Six Countries, One European Team

One of the most valuable aspects of the LTTA was its international dimension. Students from Romania, Portugal, Italy, Poland, Czechia and Türkiye had the chance to work together and share their experiences.

Although the participants came from different educational and cultural backgrounds, the project demonstrated that environmental challenges are shared across borders. Pollution, waste, climate change and the responsible use of natural resources are issues that require cooperation and collective action.

The international teams also created opportunities for students to improve their communication and teamwork skills. Every conversation, activity and shared experience helped strengthen the sense of being part of a wider European community.

A Host School Full of Energy

The host of the third LTTA was Liceul cu program

Sportiv Satu Mare, which welcomed the international participants to Romania.

Hosting an Erasmus+ activity is more than organizing a programme. It is an opportunity to introduce international visitors to the local school community, culture and environment while creating a space for cooperation and learning.

For the participants, their time in Satu Mare became an opportunity to experience Romanian hospitality and discover a new place while working together toward the common objectives of the project.

Becoming Creative and Responsible Environment Warriors

The CREW project reminds us that young people can play an important role in creating a sustainable future. Being an “Environment Warrior” does not necessarily mean making huge changes overnight. It can start with everyday choices: reducing waste, reusing materials, saving energy, respecting nature and encouraging others to care about the environment.

The word “creative” is equally important. Environmental problems require new ideas, cooperation and the courage to think differently. By giving young people the opportunity to work together internationally, Erasmus+ projects such as The CREW help develop both environmental awareness and the skills needed to turn ideas into action.

Memories That Cross Borders

The third LTTA in Satu Mare was not simply another project meeting. It was an opportunity to build friendships, exchange ideas and create memories that extend beyond the classroom.

Students from six countries discovered that, despite differences in language, culture and everyday life, they share many of the same hopes for the future. They also discovered the value of cooperation: when young people come together, they can learn from each other and inspire one another to become more responsible citizens.

The Satu Mare LTTA was therefore an important part of the Young Europeans: The CREW journey. It brought together education, international cooperation, creativity and environmental responsibility — all with young Europeans at the centre.

Together for a Greener Europe

The third LTTA in Romania showed that Erasmus+ is about much more than travelling to another country. It is about learning, sharing, cooperating and becoming more aware of our role in Europe and in the world.

From Satu Mare, the CREW continued its journey with a simple but powerful message: every young person can make a difference, and working together makes that difference stronger.

Six countries. One European community. One shared planet. One CREW.
